Gianna tends to be pretty cold towards people when she meets them because she thinks that friends are “distractions” from studying, but she actually longs to be surrounded by people she loves. She does her best to hide how hard she tries, telling people how “easy” things were for her, when they really took hours and hours of effort. She’s naturally a bit clumsy, and it’s hard for her to remember things, so she carries around a little book to write everything in. She’s used to not talking very much, but her inner commentary almost never stops, and if you can get her started, it’s hard to get her to stop. Gianna has very low confidence in herself, and though she acts all “high and mighty” it’s easy to knock her down.
Gianna was adopted by a rich couple who thought they could bear no children. In her early childhood she was spoiled and loved and was praised by her adoptive parents, but after five years, by some sort of miracle, her parents bore a child and Gianna gained a little sister. It was soon discovered that her sister, Nicole, was a prodigy is just about everything, excelling in mathematics, science, literature, arts, and music. Much of their parent’s attention was spent making sure Nicole was given every opportunity to develop her talents and many times Gianna was unintentionally neglected. In her mind, Gianna couldn’t help but feel she was inferior – slow and stupid, as the many whispered conversations she listened to at her parent’s many parties said. With these thoughts in her mind, Gianna spent every moment she could studying, practicing, or trying to perfect her athletic ability. But, at every turn, it seemed her sister was always better. After many sleepless nights spent studying, she managed to gain acceptance into Shuukudai, and is trying her best to be valedictorian of her senior year, desperate to earn the number one rank before her sister, who skipped two years and of course got a full scholarship, enters Shuukudai.

Gianna’s family actually loves her very much, but Gianna feels like unless she is perfect, she doesn’t deserve their love.
Nicole looks up to her sister a lot. She really admires Gianna for how hard she works.
Gianna loves to sing and play guitar and sometimes she makes covers in secret and posts them anonymously, but she’s never shown her family, because she’s sure her sister is better at that too.
